Read about this place last week where the owner paid $10000 to a Malaysian hawker the receipe forthe bak kut teh, so decided to drive all the way up north to check out this place.
When I was there around 12+, this place was pretty packed. I'm not sure if it is the normal crowd or due to the recent publicity. On the stall front is also shows the reviews received from the various media. I quickly ordered my bak kut teh (mixed), and then wanted to order the pig trotter, but was sold out! So I just ordered an extra bean curd skin and you tiao instead, and including rice, all these goes for only $7, which I thought was pretty reasonable.
So how's the bak kut teh at this place? Well, frankly, I find it pretty good, since I love the klang style herbal ones more. Is probably a good alternative to Leong Kee, especially those living in the north and dun want to travel all the way down. You get the herbal taste in the soup, but is only slightly bitter. For my mixed bak kut teh, there's quite a few pieces of pork ribs, and comes with tau pok, pig liver and stomach. As for the bean curd skin, is pretty good too.
Overall, I think this is quite a pretty good klang style bak kut teh. But then, one might wonder given the location is so far north, one might just head across the causeway and get cheaper and better bak kut teh there. Well, for tthose living around the area and dun want to go through the hassle of getting stuck in jam at the causeway might want to check this place out.
PS : Parking here is not much problem when I was there as there seems to be quite ample parking lots around.

Pretty decent! Not the best I've tried but can't find another one better in the North. =)

Came here for my late lunch today as I was near the area. Managed to order the pig trotter this time round. :)
The pig trotter is not bad, but I personally prefer those really soft ones, but nevertheless, this is pretty good.
Somehow, I think I find the soup at Leong Kee much better.

Is diagonally opposite Jogoya. Supposedly the quality is better than Jogoya. Price wise, if we convert currency, then Malaysia is cheaper. If we do not convert currency, then Singapore is cheaper. Generally, a japanese buffet in Siingapore is around SGD30+ range.

I'm not sure exactly where the original Leong Kee moved to, but I believe the one at Sultan Gate is still there. I also saw one at junction of Jln Besar and Hindoo road. Just at the junction before beancurd city

hi!
The bak kut teh at this place is Klang style. If you refering to the peppery style Bak Kut Teh you typically find in Singapore, then this is not the place for you.
For the peppery style one, the famous ones are probably ones are Balestier Road or the one at Tanjong Pagar complex. For me, I usually just go to Song Fa at Rochor which is decent for me, and more convenient as well.

I don't remember if i'd ever come across cheap and nice seafood in KL...I suggest you to plan a trip to Sabah, that's really what I call heaven for seafood lovers. ;-)
