Kampong Chicken Eating House

Posted by CyberTron on Sep 25, 2008 10:50PM
Pass by this place a couple of times on our way to Tiong Bahru, and decided to pop by here for dinner today.

We ordered a chicken for 2 person portion ($8), ordered a lotus root soup ($6) and a vege ($6). Inclusive of drinks and rice, the total bill came up to $24.20, which seems more reasonable compared to five star.

The chicken here might not look appetising to some, as the skin comes in a very bright yellow color, which I'm not sure if it is due to the ginger they used or is coloring. Taste wise, I find the chicken is alright here, as I'm not really a big fan of kampong chicken actually. The soup was not too bad, but nothing really exceptional though, same goes for the vege.

Overall, find the chicken rice here average, though you can see this place actually have win quite a few awards. So if you are a kampong chicken fan, you might want to check out this place and see if it is nice.

Is diagonally opposite Jogoya. Supposedly the quality is better than Jogoya. Price wise, if we convert currency, then Malaysia is cheaper. If we do not convert currency, then Singapore is cheaper. Generally, a japanese buffet in Siingapore is around SGD30+ range.

I'm not sure exactly where the original Leong Kee moved to, but I believe the one at Sultan Gate is still there. I also saw one at junction of Jln Besar and Hindoo road. Just at the junction before beancurd city

hi! The bak kut teh at this place is Klang style. If you refering to the peppery style Bak Kut Teh you typically find in Singapore, then this is not the place for you. For the peppery style one, the famous ones are probably ones are Balestier Road or the one at Tanjong Pagar complex. For me, I usually just go to Song Fa at Rochor which is decent for me, and more convenient as well.
